Michele Smith

Michele Smith, Church Board

Michele grew up in South Dakota where she received Bachelors and Masters degrees from South Dakota State University. She completed her PhD in Child and Family Development/Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Georgia, with additional training in Medical Family Therapy at Duke University Medical Center. She has taught Masters students in Marriage and Family Therapy programs at the University of San Diego and Mercer University (Georgia) for 15 years. She has also taught resident physicians and graduate students in integrated behavioral health as part of Family Medicine, Psychiatry, and Orthopedic residency programs at Emory University, the University of California, San Diego, and WellStar Atlanta Medical Center for 22 years.

Michele is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and specializes in working with people who are experiencing challenges in their health, emotions, behavior, and spirituality.  Michele serves in various capacities on professional and civic boards and participates in community-based volunteer activities. She loves hiking, backpacking, and spending time with family and friends. She is a proud mom of two adult children, William and Meaghan.
